Physical Development in Early Childhood - Emie Choute

 What Is Physical Development?

Physical development refers to the way children grow and develop control over their bodies, encompassing movement, coordination, and strength. It encompasses both gross motor abilities and fine motor abilities.

Theoretical Foundations of Physical Development

Physical development is not arbitrary, it adheres to patterns elucidated by developmental theorists: Arnold Gesell thought that physical development occurs in a natural, biological order. For instance, kids usually master sitting before they learn to walk, indicating that growth occurs in a certain sequence.

Jean Piaget highlighted that children acquire knowledge by engaging with their surroundings. While children explore, feel, and engage with their environment, they enhance their physical skills and cognitive abilities.
